Healing body and mind with herbalism, ancient and modern

Herbalism Ancient and Modern
- Herbalism is an ancient healing art which has been practiced for centuries around the world - Europe, America, China, Tibet, and India.
- Herbalism is a modern healing art exploring the inner secrets of herbs and how they react to the body and with prescription medications.
- Blending knowledge from healing traditions and modern research is the heart of my practice - Medicinal Herbalism.
MEDICINAL HERBALISM
Using non-invasive traditional
diagnostic methods, along with listening to the needs of the client, I share
knowledge to help the client make better decisions about their health and
well-being.
TRAINING
My twelve years experience in the uses of herbs has been enhanced with course work - covering emotional
ailments and physical illness and injury - with local herbalists and with the
Australasian College of Herbal Studies where I received a diploma in Herbal
Studies. I have been in private practice since 1995.
DIAGNOSIS METHODS
No one method of diagnosis can tell the
whole story of the body. Several methods, used in several traditional forms of
healing, must be used to determine what may be contributing to an illness or
injury and to confirm the general well-being of the client. The diagnostic
methods I most often use are described below.
Tongue diagnosis allows us to determine how various organs are operating.
Facial, ear, and hand diagnoses help to evaluate the condition of the body over the past few years.
Pulse diagnosis is used to judge the state of the body right now. It can also indicate how the body will respond to herbs that could be used by the client in healing.
Listening is the most important part of an herbal consultation - hearing the client’s concerns and asking questions based on what s/he has to say.
Information sharing is equally important. Provided with accurate information, the client is better able to make decisions about their health and well-being. How the body works, and why it needs help can be discussed during a consultation.
HEALING HERBS
Blending traditional uses from many cultures
and modern clinical information, the client and the herbalist will arrive at an
herb or a blend of herbs right for helping to heal the body and mind. The herbs
can be taken in a variety of ways - teas, capsules, or tinctures - best suited
to their needs and lifestyle.
FEES
The first consultation generally lasts between
forty-five and ninety minutes. The fee for the first visit is $60.00. All
subsequent visits generally last between thirty and sixty minutes and cost
$45.00. Sliding scale available. Short appointments, for simple, acute
situations that only need thirty minutes or less cost $35.00. Diagnostic
appointment in which no recommendations are made, but diagnostic information is
shared are also thirty minutes or less and cost $35.00.
Herbs to heal their bodies...
We work together, client and herbalist, to arrive at a combination of herbs
designed to meet your specific needs. As an herbalist, I will help you
understand what is happening in your body and why. I will then go over the herbs
you may want to know about in light of your health concerns.
Appointments
available Mondays and Wednesdays during evening and daytime hours, and Thursdays
and Fridays during the day. Other
times and locations available upon request, travelling charges may apply.
